New Delhi, Jan 21 (The Street Press India) – On Saturday, Amazon removed sweets labeled as “Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad” after getting a notice from the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA). The notice was about selling products that might be misleading.

Amazon confirmed receiving a message from the CCPA about sellers making misleading product claims and stated that it is currently “investigating them for violations.”

Meanwhile, an Amazon spokesperson mentioned in a statement, “In the interim, we are taking appropriate action against such listings according to our policies.” The CCPA issued a notice to Amazon for selling sweets labeled as ‘Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad.’

The regulatory authority, acting on a complaint by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), has taken action against Amazon. The complaint alleges deceptive trade practices, specifically the sale of sweets under the pretext of prasad (offering) from the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, scheduled for consecration on January 22.

The CCPA has asked for a response from Amazon within seven days. Failure to comply will result in the initiation of necessary actions.
