Kolkata, Feb 06 (The Street Press India) – On Tuesday morning, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began searching several locations across West Bengal. They’re looking into possible misuse of MGNREGA funds. During the raids, the ED searched the residence of a former block development officer (BDO) in Salt Lake’s IA Block. Additionally, they were conducting searches at the home and office of a businessman in Chinsurah, located in the Hooghly district.

They also mentioned that searches were underway at a property associated with a state government employee in Baharampur, situated in the Murshidabad district. Furthermore, an officer stated that the former BDO was previously stationed in Dhaniakhali within the Hooghly district.

He claimed that the searches were initiated after evidence of their involvement was discovered in the “irregularities.” These alleged irregularities pertain to approximately 25 lakh “fake” job cards that were issued under MGNREGA in the state, according to officials.
