Burdwan, Nov 21 (The Street Press India) – On Tuesday morning, the police of Bardwan Police Station recovered a body of an unidentified woman from a waterbody at Golapbagh near Bardhaman University. It is reported that on Tuesday morning, the university’s security personnel found a dead body in a waterbody in the southern part of the university premises. Subsequently, other security personnel responsible for Bardhaman University rushed to the scene.
After seeing the body floating in water, the Burdwan police station was informed. On receiving information, the police of Burdwan Police Station recovered the body of an unidentified woman from the waterbody. The age of the deceased is approximately 30 years. Police recovered the body and sent it to the police morgue for post-mortem. Sensation spread across the area. Police are investigating the entire incident.
Bardhaman University Vice-Chancellor Gautam Chandra stated, “Upon receiving the news, we immediately contacted the police station through the university registrar to arrange for the retrieval of the body.” He further explained the comprehensive investigation process initiated upon the arrival of the deceased body. Additionally, he discussed enhancing security measures on the university campus. In response to the situation, a delegation from the Students’ Federation of India Bardhaman district committee submitted a memorandum to the university’s vice-chancellor, urging stricter security measures and restoration of damaged fences.
