Kolkata, Jan 01 (Siliguri Journal) – Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, praised TMC workers on the party’s foundation day. She stressed the importance of standing strong against any negative forces and continuing the fight to protect the rights of the people in a democratic manner.
Discussing the importance of TMC’s establishment on January 1, 1998, Banerjee emphasized that the party’s formation stemmed from a strong commitment to honor the motherland, uphold state interests, and champion the protection of democratic rights for the masses.
“I humbly honour and respect the dedication and self-sacrifices of each worker and supporter of our party. Today, the TMC family is blessed with the love and affection of all,” stated Banerjee in a message on X. She pledged to continue her steadfast fight for the well-being of the country’s common people.
“It is on the strength of your unflinching support that we shall continue to fight for everyone in this great democratic country. No surrender to any evil force. In defiance of all terror we will continue our lifelong struggles for the common people of our country,” she wrote in a post on X.
After breaking away from Congress in 1998, TMC ascended to power, overcoming previous setbacks in 2001 and 2006, ultimately toppling the Left Front regime in 2011. This victory was propelled by widespread public dissatisfaction with the communist government.
As a prominent figure in West Bengal politics, Banerjee steered TMC to a decisive triumph in the 2021 assembly elections, solidifying her role as the chief minister for a third consecutive term.
