Lakhs worth of theft reported in Alipurduar residence as locals gather at Chhat Ghats

Alipurduar, Nov 20 (The Street Press India) – In a surprising theft, burglars targeted an unoccupied house in Jaigaon’s Bhagat Singh Nagar near the Bhutan border. They stole valuable items worth lakhs.

Reports indicate that on Monday morning, Santosh Kumar, a local gold merchant, left his house with his family to visit a Chhath Ghat. Upon returning around 6:30 AM, he discovered the door lock broken. Inside, the cabinet locker was damaged, and he noticed the theft of numerous gold ornaments and Rs. 1 lakh in cash.

Following the incident, Jaigaon police were informed. They promptly arrived at the scene, launching an investigation into the theft.
