Thane, Nov 18 (The Street Press India) – The police in Navi Mumbai filed a case against a man and his two relatives in Digha for reportedly attacking his wife. The incident occurred because they disapproved of her choice to wear stylish bangles, as per an official statement on Saturday.
The Rabale MIDC police filed the case after the 23-year-old woman lodged a complaint.
According to the complaint, the victim’s husband, Pradeep Arkade (30), opposed her wearing stylish bangles and had a heated argument with her about it.
On November 13, amidst an argument, the woman’s 50-year-old mother-in-law pulled her hair and delivered multiple slaps. Her husband used a belt to thrash her, and a female relative joined in, pushing her to the ground and participating in the assault, as per the statement.
Following the incident, the victim sought refuge at her parents’ house in Pune and filed a complaint there. Subsequently, the case was transferred to Navi Mumbai for investigation.
The police registered a case against them under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), 34 (common intention), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (criminal intimidation).
